We own 2 lovely houses in Glynrhondda Street They are spacious light, warm and sunny 3 storey houses in arguably the best location in Cathays.

This is 22 Glynrhondda Street. We are currently finishing up some insulation work on the ground floor rooms which will substantially improve energy efficiency. We completed renovations in the kitchen last summer.

The photos on this page were taken before the work began. No new photos will be posted, all second stage applicants will be able to have a personal live video or face to face tour of the house.

The 6 bedrooms are all a very good size. Not small at all! They are all based on themes and were completed by one of our artistic tenants a few years ago. There is one on the ground floor, Three on the first floor and 2 on the second floor.

The household has the benefit of fully equipped a kitchen with two cookers and ovens, plenty of fridge space, washing machine, dryer and a dishwasher! Two showers and 3 WCs. Number 22 has separate kitchen, dining room and comfortable lounge. 2 bathrooms, both with showers, one has a bathtub. .Central Heating and double glazing of course! There’s a small sunny backyard.

We reserve this house every year for postgraduates, mature undergrads and sometimes placement students.

Preference is given to people who are PhD students or just starting their masters. We know what it is like arriving in Cardiff after maybe studying in a different city and how difficult it is to find a suitable group of people to share with when you know nobody! We know people have been through the trials of dealing with difficult housemates during undergraduate days and seek to avoid repeats!

We are very experienced landlords and work very hard to find the right mixture of people to live in our specialist house shares. We dedicate a lot of time to choosing candidates and enabling the group to form organically. The house runs basically on co-operative lines -you must willing to contribute to the household chores, cleaning rotas, waste and housework rotas, even cooking a meal for the household to share.

NOTE:

This home is let on a co-operative type group basis – you cannot book a room here, you must apply and We will be looking for people who are hardworking high level mature/postgraduate students. There are spaces in each house for anyone who is willing to comply with the contractual obligations of the household for forthcoming academic year. To apply for these households you must be

A – undergraduate and

B – mature (I’ll be the judge of that !!)

Or a NEW Postgraduate student

AND demonstrate a full commitment to joining a group who works and lives together. This means agreeing on a compromise regarding social, cultural and hygiene norms and adhering to strict cleaning rotas plus a commitment to pro-social behaviour.

The criteria for each household develops as the right people appear. All confirmed housemates are included in the decision process for choosing the rest of the the group.

Note that I start advertising after 15th August every year and I am usually finding people to join the households right up to a few days before the contract begins. I usually have continuing PhD students already signed up from the previous year’s intake. I’m in no hurry because the
